Sunset Music Fest – a family-friendly free concert series taking place for the fifth year at Town Center Plaza in Leawood – just added four popular Kansas City-based bands to the already stellar lineup.
"We completely support the local music scene," said Leonard Corsi, General Manager of Town Center Plaza|Town Center Crossing. "The opening acts set the stage for the night and with these opening bands, we know the energy of the crowds will be high every week."
The legendary Eddie Money is the headliner for the first Sunset Music Fest concert on Tuesday, June 8. Opening for Money is Chris Meck and the Guilty Birds, pleasing crowds and playing together since 2013. Before the Spin Doctors take the stage on June 15, The MGDs, a Kansas City favorite since 2008, will light up the crowd. A week later on June 22, Katy Guillen & The Girls – one of Kansas City’s most sought after groups – will take the stage before 10,000 Maniacs. Wrapping up the four-concert series is Better Than Ezra with crowd favorites, School of Rock – Overland Park opening.
Sunset Music Fest is held in the shopping center’s north parking lot. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the music starts at 7 p.m. for all events. Families are encouraged to arrive early with chairs in hand; no coolers, please. Food and beverages from the Leawood Hereford House are available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting JDRF, Type 1 diabetes research funding and advocacy.
