City Council Approves Sign Plan for Park Place

2017-10-16 - Leawood, KS

The Leawood City Council unanimously approved a sign package for Park Place designed to increase awareness of the Park Place development and to help those doing business with retail and restaurant businesses at Park Place find the right garage to park in that gives them the quickest access to the business they are patronizing.

A “Park Place” sign will be added to the top portion of two of the parking garages, improved garage entrance identification signs, and signage indicating tenants most easily accessed from each garage will be added. . Signage internal to the development will also be added to help pedestrians and motorists locate the various tenants in the development. The sizing of the signage is all consistent with the current Leawood Development Ordinance. Due to the complexity of attaching the garage signage, the Council also approved an alternative lighting method for those signs that should maintain a tasteful, quality appearance

In late Spring, the Council approved other additional signage at Park Place, much of which is already installed, but the portions approved this evening had required additional changed to the Leawood Development Ordinance for mixed use developments like Park Place.

Members of the City Council expressed their desire to give retail businesses at Park Place the best opportunity possible to be successful at Park Place.

Representatives of KBS, the firm that now owns most of Park Place, as well as CBRE, the local leasing firm providing commercial leasing and marketing support for the ownership group, were on hand to learn of the council’s decision. The ownership group was represented by John Peterson of the Polsinelli law firm.

In late Spring, the Council approved some additional signage at the center, much of which is already installed, but the portions approved this evening had required additional changed to the Leawood Development Ordinance for mixed use developments like Park Place.
