Bill Nicks, a local historian, specializes in 1st person historical presentations. You'll learn about Pendergast's early life in St. Jo, Missouri, his time in the Leavenworth Penitentiary, his associations with Harry Truman and crime boss Johnny Lazia, his 17 construction businesses, and why his followers were called goats, and much, much more.

Nicks, through his company HistoryKC.com, portrays five 1st person historical characters: Tom Pendergast, IKE Eisenhower, Octave Chanute, Wilbur Wright and Dr. James Naismith. He also conducts historical bus tours, in character, to Abilene, Lawrence and around Kansas City. Bill and Marci, his wife of 48 years, live in Lenexa and have 3 children and 8 grandchildren all who live in the area. He has a bachelor's from Washburn, a Masters from KU and was elected to the Lenexa City Council in 2017. While sitting in that council seat, he hopes no one confuses the real Bill Nicks with the real Tom Pendergast.
