A new sculpture, titled "Dancers", has been installed on Roe Avenue, north of Leawood City Hall as part of the Art in Public Places Inititiative of the Leawood Arts Council.
The sculpture is by internationally acclaimed German artist, Ewerdt Hilgemann, and comprises a two-piece work of art, one of stainless steel and one of Cor-Ten steel. Each piece is a 20' tall rectangular column 4' x 4' wide, and each weiging around one ton. “Dancers” is a prime example of Hilgemann’s signature implosion style.
This piece is the 20th three-dimensional work in Leawood’s Public Art Collection.
The dedication will be held later this year and attendees will be able to meet the artist Ewerdt Hilgemann. For more information, contact April Bishop, Leawood Cultural Arts Coordinator at 913-663-9157.
