Leawood Chamber President, Kevin Jeffries, joined Mayor Dunn and members of the Leawood Rotary Club for a tree planting ceremony on Saturday, May 4, at Ironwoods Park.
This three-year 60 tree planting project grew out of a challenge issued by the President of Rotary International to Rotarians around the world to plant one new tree for each of Rotary’s over 1 million members worldwide.
Leawood Rotary’s membership accepted this challenge, and after consulting with the Leawood Parks and Recreation Department, made plans for a tree grove at Ironwoods Park. After consulting with the City’s tree expert, Dustin Branick, it was decided to plant a variety of trees. Two Sugar Maple trees were planted on Saturday.
Thanks to members of the Leawood Rotary for their on-going
efforts to beautify our community.
