At The Tee 2019 - A Fun Afternoon on the Fairways

07/11/2019 01:33 PM

Perfect weather on July 9 (if a little sultry!), friendly competition, networking, and a beautiful course all added up to a fun afternoon on the fairways at this year’s At The Tee golf outing!

Presented by Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City, some sixty plus golfers gathered in high spirits to play nine holes of golf in a 4-person scramble format. Getting practice in first at the putting green (sponsored by JE Dunn) and the driving range (sponsored by the Residences at Park Place), a shot-gun start at 2pm saw the golfers set off in their MBB sponsored golf carts.

Featuring contests along the way like straightest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin, players were welcomed at each tee and hole by our wonderful sponsors.  Hole 2 was the Hole-in-One contest, with a $10k prize for the winner, but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for the sponsor, Mark Barone of Edward Jones), luck was not on the side of the golfers!

No round of golf is complete without a beverage or two, and we were thrilled to have Sunflower Bank sponsor the beverage cart and Mission Chateau provide the signature cocktail, The John Daly.

At the end of the afternoon, the golfers and sponsors headed to Vista 154 inside the club house for the after party and prize giving. Sponsored by The Fairways of Ironhorse, with food provided by Costa Vida, the after party was a good chance to share stories and experiences from the golf course and to congratulate or commiserate on golfing achievements!

The winning team, with the lowest score, comprised Matt Rau, Scott Miller, JD Christie, and Adam Blue.

Andrew Campbell had the longest drive, and Pat Panko had the straightest drive. The longest putt was won by Jim Belozer and Gary Gifford was closest to the pin at Hole #5. Justin Bridges was closest to the pin on the second shot at Hole #8.

Thank you to our sponsors who donated gift cards and other gifts for the contests.  In addition, we are grateful to other Chamber members who provided gifts: Ranchmart Wine & Spirits, Sullivan's Steakhouse, St. Joseph Medical Center, Talk of the Town Leawood, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Whole Life chiropractic, and KC Golf Classic.

All too soon, after months of planning, the golf outing was over, but luckily our golfers went home with packed swag bags, sponsored by AdventHealth.
